Black Pine Animal Sanctuary is currently seeking to hire two (2) part-time lead keepers to add to our animal care team! The lead keepers report to the Executive Director, and support the efforts of other paid staff, to provide permanent refuge to displaced exotic animals in residence, and to welcome, serve, and educate the public. The lead keepers will work with other senior level animal keepers to help define and manage the animal husbandry and veterinary programs.

Education and Pre-requisites

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus post-high school life science education and/or paid related work experience
• Previous experience as a “primary” caregiver for multiple animals / mixed species
• Previous experience leading/supervising others
• Must have reliable, all-weather transportation
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds; able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Must be available to work 24-32 hours per week with a flexible schedule, including some weekend days routinely, and holidays
• Must be able to perform duties in an environment with exposure to animals, byproducts, feed carcasses, bedding materials, feeds, etc., for prolonged periods of time

Compensation and benefits

This is a permanent, hourly position. Starting wage is $10.00 per hour; may be eligible for a pay increase after successfully completing a 90-day probationary period.
