Description

Under the direction of the Randall Oaks Park & Zoo Division Manager performs skilled tasks related to zoo and park operations. Effectively leads crews from 3-12 staff. Serve as Manager on Duty when the zoo and park are open for business. Oversees park and zoo operations including customer service, cleaning, feeding, animal training, enrichment, and husbandry. Involved in day to day care for a zoo of approximately 160 different animals as well as doing public presentations and overseeing staff, interns, and volunteers.

Education and Pre-requisites

•Associates degree in related field (animal science, biology, or husbandry) required; Bachelor’s degree desired. Equivalent experience may be substituted for formal education.
•Two years of increasingly responsible experience in professional animal care field.
•Ability to read, understand and apply technical information and manuals.
•Knowledge of principles and practices of animal care, park maintenance, vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair.
•Proficient in operation and maintenance of a wide variety of park maintenance tools, vehicles and equipment.
•Knowledge of applicable safety and OSHA regulations.
•Valid Pesticide Operator’s License or the ability to obtain within 90 days.
•Speak, write, read the English language fluently.

Compensation and benefits

Non-exempt full-time year-round position normally working 40 hours per week. Scheduled days and times vary. Weekend and holiday work will be required as well as irregular hours. This position has the option of benefits and pay rate depends on experience but ranges from
